Paul De Puyt is a 40-year resident of San Diego who has a passion for the culinary arts. He adheres to the concept of life-long learning and was the 2020 Chefs de Cuisine Student of the Year
He is a New Jersey native and a U.S. Navy veteran. He owned and operated a successful laundry equipment and service center for 15 years but was always happiest when in the kitchen.
He discovered Grossmont Adult High School classes and has attended dozens of culinary classes there. He went on to take advanced baking classes around the city and earned a certificate from both the San Diego Continuing Education Bakeshop Program and their Advanced Baking Program.
He joined Chefs de Cuisine in 2018 to make industry contacts. It was not long however, before he volunteered for the boards of both the Association and the Education Foundation.
Paul is an ardent promoter of Chefs de Cuisine and frequently seeks out chefs around the county to tell them about the organization and solicit their support. He is a volunteer in the Foundation garden project that provides chefs to San Diego County schools with vegetable gardens and shows youngsters how to create nutritious meals from their garden harvests.
He continues to learn, and Chefs de Cuisine continues to benefit from his skills, his dedication, and his heart.
Paul and his wife Bonnie have been married for 33 years and are deservedly proud of their 4 children, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
