About the Chefs De Cuisine Association Education Foundation
The Chefs de Cuisine Education Foundation was formed by chefs who realized a duty beyond making great food and excelling in commercial kitchens.
That realization included accepting responsibility to be part of making positive changes in the food-related aspects that touch the lives of people in local communities.
Our Focus
Food Safety
A primary focus is ensuring food safety, demanding the highest standards of culinary professionalism, and assisting in the education and development of aspiring chefs.
Hunger
Food insecurity and hunger threaten the lives of people across the region.
Obesity
Childhood obesity and malnutrition exist in epidemic proportions within San Diego County.
Access
Families in underserved communities do not have ready access to reasonably priced quality fruits and vegetables.
Knowledge
Growing numbers of local children reach adulthood without the knowledge of how nutrition impacts their bodies and how simple, affordable dietary changes can promote longer, healthier lives.
Waste
There is a 40 percent food waste rate for all Americans and the average U.S. restaurant throws away 100,000 pounds of safe, edible food annually.
That is a hefty agenda for a small, group of dedicated, hardworking volunteers.
It is why the Foundation seeks to form partnerships with like-minded individuals and organizations to have maximum impact on areas of mutual community concern.
Join us in taking action
Partnerships
We partner with local schools and after-school programs to conduct hands-on, healthy cooking classes that introduce youngsters to nutritious recipes, along with cooking and shopping habits.

Collaborations
We collaborate with nonprofits that place vegetable gardens in schools, and with groups trying to bring full-service grocery stores to area food deserts, and with organizations offering culinary apprenticeships and second chances to individuals from troubled backgrounds.

Meals
We prepare hundreds of meals during the winter holidays for families who might otherwise do without and work with community groups to provide canned goods and toys during the winter season.
