An Italian Affair

Chefs de Cuisine Education Foundation invites you to a tasting event that pairs outstanding Italian cuisine and magnificent newly released wines by Gianni Buonomo Vintners - voted Best San Diego Urban Winery 8 years in row. It is conveniently located in the shadow of Pechanga Arena (formerly San Diego Sports Arena) with free, on-site parking. Keith Rolle, Gianni Buonomo owner/winemaker and general Manager Al Dorvinen will pour and discuss these wines made with grapes from the California Sierra foothills and from Eastern Washington. Local wine judge Brad Bruce will be on hand to share his broad wine expertise.

This wine and food pairing offers one pour of wine to complement each meal course. All Gianni Buonomo wines will be available for purchase at special wine club prices.

The Food and The Wine Pairings

1st Course:

Cheese and Charcuterie. Baked Brie en Croute with Candied Pecans and Fig Jam.

Wine: 2020 Mataro, earthy with notes of clove, allspice, and black pepper

2nd Course:

Caprese Salad with Heirloom Tomatoes, Arugula, Buffalo Mozzarella, Fresh Basil

layered and drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, balsamic glaze, and lemon pepper

Wine: 2020 Charbono, full-bodied, complex, and layered with a long, exciting finish

3rd Course:

Pasta Primavera with Cheese Tortellini tossed in Pesto, extra virgin olive oil, and al

dente Spring Vegetables finished with shaved Parmesan Cheese.

Wine: 2020 Barbera, a medium garnet with strawberry, raspberry and black cherry aromas

4th Course:

Beef Bolognese (beef and sausage in red sauce) over Ziti Pasta finished with Fresh

Basil and Mozzarella. (Vegetarian option must be requested online with ticket purchase,)

Wine: 2020 Avennio, a Syrah-dominant blend that highlights the best of Washington fruit

Dessert:

Belgian Chocolate Brownies with Walnuts, and Sopapilla Cheesecake Bars
